DFM and the Metal Fabricator

A testing equipment maker should be employing purhcasing managers and engineers who are willing to collaborate with and learn from suppliers from other parts of the line, such as sheet metal suppliers, in order to create a less-costly manufacturing process. Having no in-house fabrication abilities, Dynisco works closely with its sheet metal providers since, they could not fully streamline the assembly process if they did not. To allow this to be known, Dynisco mixes DFM, or design for manufacturing, data and TCO, total cost of ownership, analysis to get the "should cost" for materials and processes going into a product.
